Chambers Ireland has today (30/08/12) welcomed the announcement of the National Broadband Plan for Ireland, by Minister Pat Rabbitte T.D. noting that targets are ambitious but attainable.
Speaking this morning, Sean Murphy, Chambers Ireland Deputy Chief Executive said, "High speed broadband quality is a key determinant of quality of life. It underpins tourism and investment plans regionally and it will also be a vital determinant in ensuring that Ireland can be the best place in the world to undertake business by 2016."
"The targets set in the national Broadband Plan are good news for Irish business, particularly the fact that the Government has produced a time frame for delivery of a guaranteed minimum of at least 30Mbps for every home and business in this country."
"Business needs top quality broadband to reduce costs, be more productive, sustain employment and grow new markets," he added.
"The key determinants of success for this plan will be:
1. Delivery of these new and enhanced broadband services as per the time frame specified, 2. The quality of connectivity provided by these new and enhanced services, and 3. Assurances that all areas will be brought up to speed as soon as possible," he concluded.
